Last year we had great pleasure in an event in Llandudno meeting Warren Gatland, the famous rugby coach to the Welsh national team and the Lions team - this year the ex-captain of the same teams came to be the after-meal speaker, and we met with him - for a few minutes!- before the event itself. A remarkably down to earth and companionable person he turned out to be. It was a welsh location and there were many in the audience happy to hear about wheels being knocked off England's chariot (!) but all taken in good heart: rugby is a sport where we applaud high performance even if sometimes it is our own team being beaten.

A great event, I hope it is on again next year - I wonder who it will be?
